Why does the app say “Unknown” for Dolby Atmos?
Apple TV does not expose a definitive “this is Atmos” signal to apps. Rather than show a misleading badge, the app reports “Unknown” when it cannot confirm Atmos, and “supported” only when your route clearly exposes the needed channels over HDMI. Use the Test Tones and Spatial Test to confirm what you actually hear.
Does it support DTS?
Apple TV cannot output (bitstream) DTS to a receiver — this is an Apple platform limitation, not something an app can change. The app is honest about this in the diagnostics rather than implying DTS support that the hardware can't deliver.
Is there a subscription?
No. The app is a single one-time purchase with no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.
